This is a delightful tale of two courtesans from ancient Kashmir. It is witty, funny and full of interesting anecdotes from a senior courtesan to and younger one on how to lure men as potential clients, to hold on to them til their ruin and then discard them like dirty rag. Though the subject matter may be taboo but the style is light hearted and funny and along the way a lot of fun is poked at pretty much everyone including the gods. Haskar's translation is superb! It is also interesting to note that ancient Indian literature is not shy of talking about sex in its most vivid of descriptions. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys anything Indian but just as pleasing to the non-indian audience.
